What is a 'Discovery Service?'

A Discovery Service aims to combine all the library resources available to users, and presently 22 million papers are available as full text, and immediately downloadable. Over 53,000 books are available either locally or via Interlibrary Loan via the three 'Discovery Services' maintained by Bedfordshire Health Libraries.

This is achieved by combining all the resources available through the NHS Core ContentMedline CompleteCINAHL with Full TextHealth Business Elite, and ELMS, the East of England Library Management System for paper books.

Electronic Books are available either via the Bedfordshire Core eBook Collection or other services and can be searched. In many cases, the system allows you to search through the full-text of the book.

Resources not available immediately in full-text can be ordered from the library team at the Luton and Dunstable or Bedford Hospital, through a 'one click' request system as an Interlibrary Loan.

Full-text downloads are via your Athens Account. If you would like to query your eligibility please email This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
